The wolf population has decreased severely over the years due to loss of habitat, hunting, predator control programs and more. Wolves such as the Mexican Gray Wolf and Red Wolf are now gravely endangered.

Wolves play a big role in ecosystems around the world and without them, our environment would fall to chaos. They keep populations of their prey (deer, elk, etc.) in check and the carcasses of their prey distribute nutrients and provide food to other animals. Without wolves, their prey’s populations would grow out of hand, cause a deficit in other plant and animal species, and increase the population of other predators.
